A Bibliography—Writings about DREDGE Operation
Information about hydraulic dredging is pretty sparse, especially for those who are engaged in sand and gravel mining. The following publications are mostly about contract dredge operation—the big boys in the hydraulic dredging world. While most of the information presented is about eighteen to forty-eight inch contractor-type dredges the hydraulic principles involved in moving a slurry through pump and pipelines also applies to eight to sixteen inch sand & gravel mining dredges. There are significant differences in operating procedures and components between contract dredging and sand & gravel dredging.
For these reasons I offer Willardsays.com as a practical source of information tailored specifically for those engaged in sand & gravel dredge mining.

Mr. Herbich headed up the College of Dredging at Texas A & M, College Station, Texas, a sea-grant college and is now professor emeritus. During his tenure this college amassed a tremendous amount of research information on all aspects of dredging. Those studies continue today and they conduct a yearly dredging seminar.
